Purge project: Jewelry

I worked on this purge project before Christmas.  I'm just now getting around to posting about it.  Over the course of the last 6 weeks or so, it appears that I've lost my notes about how many necklaces I started with and how many I purged.  It know it looked something like this:

Started with: A Lot
Kept: 60% of A Lot
Final purge tally: 40% less than A Lot

I learned a few things during this process.

I like jewelry!

I think I already knew that before, but this solidified it in my mind.

I also learned that it is more fun to open up a clean, organized jewelry box so that I can actually see all the jewelry that I love.  Shortly after this purge, Hudson was up on the bathroom counter looking through the drawers as he's known to do.  A delighted look came over his face as he declared, "Oh, I've never been shopping in this aisle before!"

  1. Love it! Your necklaces are gorgeous, btw. :-) You are inspiring me to be less minimalist....

    1. LESS minimalist??? Oh no! I look at it as "creating capacity" for the things you really love and cherish as well as adding to that collection.

    2. Good way to look at it. My "less minimalist" refers to the fact that I have only a couple of necklaces, at least that I can wear (darn skin sensitivity), and I love the fun styles of yours, so maybe I should expand my selection just a bit. :-)

  2. So what did you do with the discarded jewelry? I absolutely need to do this, but giving it to goodwill feels odd.

    1. It is all in a box under my bed waiting for our garage sale of all garage sales this summer. Whatever doesn't sell will have to go to goodwill. If I would have purged anything that was any of my truly valuable jewelry, that part would have been harder. I would have maybe tried to consign it or given it away to friends/co-workers.
